We all stood up very early in the morning. We first had to take the plane from Værnes to London, then to New York, and then from there we would fly to Cuba.
We were now waiting for the first plane of the day, to London. It was six a clock in the morning and we were all pretty tired, so everyone slept through the whole trip.
When we came to London and it was time to board the plane, we were still pretty tired even though we had slept on the previous plane. We got to sleep over half of the trip until they put a film on. None of us had seen it before and it helped the plane trip from beeing boring.
When we landed we could feel the heat. We had to change clothes on the airport. We did not get to do much in New York because the next plane to Cuba left in not so long.
On the plane to Cuba we played card and I (Leif) won every time. In the end Endre and Eirik gave up.
When we got to Cuba we were pretty tired, and had to check in to the hotel.
It was late, and we decided to go to our hotel rooms and sleep.

Day 2
Hello again everyone!
Our next entry will be about the food here in Cuba.
We are not experienced with food from cuba, so we decided to ask a local a few questions.
Its seems they're kinda in it with grilled food, and most of the food contains fish, pork, chicken or beef. And normal vegetables, its sounded delicious.
We ate all the food, and was more or less satisfied. until the desert, which knocked us totally out, a absolutely delicious Icecream, yummy!
Icecream with fruit, a traditional desert in Cuba. Absolutely delicious.
It's very good eating ice cream in the tropical heat.
But after all the food we ate we couldn't almost move.
so we decided just to lay on the beach for a while, we rentet a sunbed and relaxed.
After everyone of us felt that we could do something, we went to get our shorts and swim in the ocean. It was really refreshing.
We swam for a while and was very tired. It was getting late so we went to our hotel to change and take a shower to get away the sand.
When we were done we went to the plaza de la revolucion, this is the place where Fidel castro keeps his speeches. This place is amazing! We walked to the place since it was very close to our hotel.
We got there and it was beautifull, they had a resturant with a perfect view over the plaza and the monument.
There we ate great food and the staff came over to us to talk about the story behind the monument. It was interesting.
After eating the great food, we went back to our place, we were absolutely to tired to do something else, and Eirik wasn't feeling good either.
Good night.

Day 3
Day 3
When we woke up the next morning, Eirik felt very bad. We ordered a taxi and drove to the hospital to check what was wrong with him.
When we got there the doctors immediately understood that it was food poisoning.
We were very happy about the health care, and the fact that the government runs it, was calming. The health care in Cuba was very good, and Eirik were taken care of.
Endre and I got a little bored of being in the hospital all day, so we went outside and saw some guys playing baseball on the lawn. Baseball is the most popular sport in Cuba.
The Cuban people are known to be very friendly so we decided to ask if we could play with them. They were happy to teach us the sport, and after telling us the rules for five minutes, we began playing. We could see why the sport was so popular, and we had a really good time.
We totally forgot about Eirik and we went to eat after playing for almost two hours. We decided to take the same grilled food as the day before even though Eirik got sick.
Later on the day we went to pick up Eirik on the hospital. He was happy with the staff on the hospital, and he felt much better.

Day 4
Day 4
We decided to discover some of the Cuban music to day, hot or not? We went down to the breakfast table to discuss out thoughts about the Cuban music. No one was exactly very experienced with this type of music, may be a reason? We had to figure it out, by visiting a local Salsa club. They were advertising for Salsa lessons, perfect for our purpose.
It was very hot to day, and it was typical for a tropical heat. So we agreed to walk, to get some fresh air. In the reception was a pretty detailed map over a small area, just enough for us. After half an hour walking we finally reached our destination.

26 of July
Day 5
Today, we went to Havana city.
Little did we know that the cuban people have special day today.
When we got to the city we saw cuban flags everywhere, we didn't know what was going on so we asked some locals. Today was 26 of july, at this date, Fidel Castro took over the country. Everybody was celebrating and having a good time, somebody even gave us some cigars! but either of us did smoke. We went to the famous Cuban beach promenade, and we ate som great food. Leif wanted to try smoking the cigar we got, but ended up coughing. We paid around 300 pesos for the food.
When we were done eating, we decided to go to the famous church Cathedral de San Cristóbal, it is said that Cristoffer Columbus lies here. it had many beatifull sculptures. After we were done there we ate lunch at resturant that only makes Cuban food. Cuban people love pork, and it is typical to mix it with rice, fried bananas and beans. It sounded good, so we tried it. Well, the food was amazing.
After the meal and the long trip to the church and back, we were absolutely to tired to do anything else than to sleep. We went back to our hotel, but it was hard to sleep, because every cuban was celebrating 26 of july.

Day 6
Today, we stood up early, we did it because we wanted to go to the market, the market closes early. But first, we had to eat breakfast. We went to the same cuban resturant as last night and ate som more cuban food, because it was so good. When we were done eating we went to the market. It was a huge market with loads of different stuff. They had food, clothes, cd's, movies, toys, pictures etc.
Most of the pictures were off Fidel Castro, se we bought one, thinking it would be funny. We didn't find so much that we wanted to buy, eventough it was a huge market.
When we were done we didn't really know what to do. We went to the center of Havana to see if something was going on there, and yes! something was going on. Lots of people were dancing salsa in the middle of the city square. Salsa dancing is a really big part of cuban culture and other latin american countries. When we were done watching all the people dance salsa we went to the acuario nacional.
Acuario nacional is a big aquarium, its fileld with all kinds of fish. And the people who made the place did a good job on the lighting, they made the light like it was in the depths of the sea. The aquarium is most famouse for they're dolphin shows, so we checked it out. It was really impressive. When it wasn't more to see, we headed back to our Hotel room. But on the way we wanted something to eat, so we went to an American resturant where they served great food. The resturant was located next to the beach, and that gave us a beatifull view over the beach.
In the American resturan, it was ironic that nobody of the staff members could speak good english.
But we paid for our meal and went back to our hotel room.

Our Trip Home
Day 7
Today was our last day in Cuba, we really liked our time in Cuba. We had a great time! We stood up early to catch the flight, first we had to eat our breakfast. It was about 5 am and everyone of us was tired. We had called a taxi the day before so we wouldn't have any problems having transport to the airport.
We just hope Eirik doesn't get food poising again.
We checked out of the hotel and went to the street.
There was the taxi, it was and old classic cuban car and our trip to the ariport couldn't be better.
The trip to the airport took about 40 minutes, and we paid the driver more than he charged, because we taught we had so little cuban money left, that we just gave it to him.
We checked in, and our first flight was to New York and would take around 2 hours.
On the airport we just read magazines and spanish newspapers.
And on the plane we read American magazines and newspapers.
It was interesting.
When we got to New York we had to check in, now our trip to London.
What i first noticed in New York, was the strict security. It was annoying, since they had to do stupid checks all the time, and it took forever.
When we got to our lounge, we could relax with some soda and snacks.
Before we knew it we had to leave, this flight would take 9 hours, and I sleept most of the time, the only time i was awake was when i wanted to order soda.
We landed in London, but had to hurry to our next flight to Trondheim.
This flight would take so long, and on the airport we bought snacks and magazines we could enjoy on the airplane.
We watched a movie on the airplane, and ate snacks.
We didn't really bother to read the magazines, because the movie was so good.
We finally got to Trondheim, and it was great to be back home. Eventough Cuba is a great place to visit.
